The Best Golf Courses Near Sesmarias
Salgados Golf Club
Located near Albufeira, the 18 hole course was designed by Pedro Vasconcelos and opened in 1994. The course itself is set on a nature reserve and almost every hole includes different hazards such as lakes and trees. The course itself is also located close to the beach and seaside so you can enjoy a swim and some food after a long day of golfing.
Balaia Golf Club
Situated near Albufeira, the course which was opened in 2001 after being designed by Southern Golf, considers of 9 holes. The course itself is very tricky and will test players skills especially in the pitching and putting departments. The fairways are narrow and with strong tree cover you have to always be on your game. Also located on site is a driving range, golf shop and an academy.
Oceanico Faldo Course
This course which was designed by Nick Faldo and opened in 2008 is one of the top courses in the Algarve region. The course itself is located in Alcantarilha and consists of 18 holes over a length of 6500 meters. It is known as an ‘up and down’ course with many elevated greens to test you to your limits. With views inland over the Algarve region and the ability to also play on its sister “O’Connor Jnr Course” this truly is the FULL package.
Oceanico O’Connor Jnr Course
The sister course to ‘Oceanico Faldo Course’ and located just beside it near Alcantarilha in the Algarve. This 18 hole course was designed by Christy O’Connor Jnr. and opened in 2008. The course itself has wide fairways with quick and fast greens situated on the rough and rugged terrain. With amazing views across the Algarve countryside this course is more suited to medium skilled golfers and is considered ‘easier’ than the Faldo Course however you can get a chance to test your skills on both.
Pine Cliffs Resort
Opened in 1991, this 9 hole Albufeira course was designed by Martin Hawtree and goes for just over 2000 meters. The course itself is located parallel to the sea with amazing views and fresh sea breezes a nice inclusion to your golfing holiday. Hole 6 is one of the most photographed golfing locations in the world as much of it hangs out over a cliff.
