Castelgandolfo Golf & Country Club

Situated in the remains of an ancient volcanic crater, Robert Trent Jones Senior has constructed a unique technical golf course. Using the natural 93 bunkers and 3 lakes, RTJ Snr has added artificial obstacles, olive trees, and more to create a course which would challenge even the most experienced amateur player. Host to two editions of the Roma Masters in 1992 and 1993, the course has maintained its reputation as one of the best golf clubs in the area.

Olgiata Golf Club

On the site of a former world-class stud farm, Olgiata Golf Club is a top quality course, 12 miles north-west of Rome. Previously hosting the World Cup in 1968 and 1984, Olgiata has a reputation for world-class golf. Opening in 1961, it was designed by C Kenneth Cotton and is split into two routes, ‘West’ and ‘East’. Set in lush parkland, the terrain is gently rippling, providing a memorable experience.

Parco di Roma Golf  & Country Club

Located inside the Veio Park, Parco di Roma Golf & Country Club pairs the area’s natural beauty with technical precision. Designed by PB Dye, the course sits on a reasonably hilly site to the north of Rome. Host to the 2004 Ladies Italian Open, which saw Spain’s Belen Sanchez claim victory, the course has established a reputation for top class golf. Although the fairways have fewer trees than other courses in the area, Parco di Roma offers both sand and water in respect of hazards.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole Championship layout which was established in the 1980’s. Lying within a beautiful estate belonging to the fashion designer Laura Biagiotti, the course stretches over almost 100 hectares. Transforming ancient hunting trials and pastures, architect Jim Fazio has utilised the gentle undulations of the countryside to provide a course with enormous variety. The seat of the Ryder Cup 2020, all golfing holidays to central Italy must include this course.

Circolo del Golf di Roma Aquasanta

A golfing holiday in this region would not be complete without a visit to the first Italian golf course. Acquired in 1903 by a group of British expatriates, the Roma Acquasanta Golf Club is one of the most prestigious and exclusive golf clubs in the country. With the Via Appia Antica Roman aqueduct arches and the ancient tomb of Cecilia Metella providing the backdrop, this course combines Roman history with world-class golf. The course itself includes two streams interrupting the tight fairways and strategically placed bunkers requiring precision to overcome.

Terre dei Consoli Golf

Relatively new for Roman standards, this Robert Trent Jones Jr design was created in 2011 and has already begun to build an impressive reputation. Set in a residential resort, the course is in a 160-hectare valley and combines lush parkland with an out-and-back routing. Including technically contoured greens and water hazards, this 18 hole championship course is suitable for international tournaments and is the perfect addition to your golfing holiday to Italy.
